How We Met
In May 2019, Barb lived in New Jersey, 9.8 miles as the crow flies from Marc's place in Brooklyn. Luckily, this was just close enough to show up on each other's OK Cupid apps (#ad). Knowing how much cooler Brooklyn was than Harrison, New Jersey, Barb astutely ensured their first few dates gave no indication of how long the PATH train ride was to her place. Only once she was certain she had reeled him in, she invited Marc to take the trip with her home. Luckily, he didn't run away, and in fact chose to move from Brooklyn to Harrison less than a year later! All because their love for each other, and New Jersey, had blossomed (and because COVID forced Marc out of his high rise ;)
The Proposal
Marc knew how much Barb loved to hike in the Hudson Valley. He wanted to make the proposal special for her and acknowledge the many fun hours of hiking and brewery visits they've done in the Harriman hills over the years. So one weekend in November 2022, he suggested they take a hike. They arrived at a trail head close to Storm King mountain. The last of the fall leaves were shimmering in the chilly breeze as they made their way up the trail. Marc's plan was to make it to the summit, overlooking the ribbon of water that was the Hudson river. But when the anticipation and excitement moves you, why wait? An overlook is almost as good as a summit, he thought!Marc got down on one knee, in the sight line of the phone camera that had been propped against a rock, and popped the question! Barb's excitement and happiness pushed away her slight bemusement at the fact that they weren't at the top of the hill -- and is it really a hike if you don't get sweaty climbing to the top?? But looking into Marc's beautiful blue eyes, she knew that she was willing to sign up for a lifetime of hikes that only make it part-way up the mountain, if it meant being with him. She said yes!They spent the rest of the hike holding hands, skipping through the leaves like children. For those precious minutes, the quiet forest around them held their secret. While they never made it to the summit of Butter Hill that day, they knew that this would be their favorite hike for the rest of their lives.

Cassie Drumm
Cassie is Barb's best friend whom she's known since middle school. They were in the same friend groups, ie. marching band, in high school and grew closer over nights spent at football games and sleepovers. Their friendship grew even stronger as they both went away to college, Barb in Bethlehem, Cassie on the Main Line and as they moved into their first jobs. No matter the distance, no matter how far...apart their lives took them, the sleepovers and adventures continued. The only thing that changed was the size of the budget! Barb is so happy to have Cassie by her side on this special day!

Will Olson
Though Will and Marc went to the same high school, their friendship didn't begin until a chance encounter in their first year at Penn State. Because Marc's dorm was so much closer to campus, Will spent lots of time there, creating a friend group that has stuck together to this day.There's lots of admire about Will, from his impressively big list of Untappd check-ins to his even bigger heart.
